ABOUT ME

As a current Communications Major at Messiah College, I am chasing any and all experience I can find. As a senior, I have decided what I want my future to look like. My dream job is telling the stories of professional athletes, whether that be a fantastic play or about their philanthropic activities off the field. For myself, juggling sports, classes and a social life, I have maintained a 3.91 GPA and have been selected to the Dean's List each semester so far.

I plan to graduate in December of 2019 and pursue a job in the Communications field. My goal are to:

  • Obtain an entry-level position with an organization in a communications, media relations or similar role

  • Continue to grow in my craft by taking classes and seeking feedback on my work

Truly Transformative Experiences

My first transformative experience has been my internship with USA Field Hockey. As part of the internship, I have written numerous articles for the website and magazine, as well as assist onsite at events for the team. This summer, I traveled to Peru to help cover the Pan-American games in which the men's and women's national teams competed.

In addition to Peru, I have covered the 2019 FIH Pro League for USA Field Hockey, 2019 Festival in Tampa, Fl., and the NCAA Weekend Game Previews each week this fall.

In May 2019, I went to Africa for the second time in my college career. This time, I went to Nairobi, Kenya with a sports organization at my school. We led multiple camps that not only taught skills but also character development. The children were amazing, and it was tough to leave them when the time came. I hope to return someday.

The summer after my sophomore year, I had the privilege of traveling to Ghana with my college. I learned about how the slave trade radically impacted the development of the country. It  was another transformative experience for me as I saw the radical difference between my norms and theirs, but still how the people of Ghana stayed strong in their beliefs and convictions.

During my freshman year of college, my field hockey team won the Division III National Championship amidst a snow storm. It was such a cool experience that led to many more instances of recognition, including at a March Madness game. Since then, my team has experienced continued success. For my senior year, my goal is to make it again to NCAA tournament.

Field hockey has given me so many transferrable skills that I plan to carry into my career.
